My Journey in Teaching and Inspiring French Learners
Extensive Teaching Experience
A native French teacher, Estelle has been teaching in the UK since 2001. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lyon III, specialising in Literature, Civilisation, and Linguistics, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Estelle is a chartered French teacher registered with the GTCS.
Years in the Classroom and Teaching Online
With a profound passion for language teaching, Estelle taught French in Scottish high schools for 15 years in the UK. Her teaching journey took a significant step forward eight years ago when she founded La Classe in 2016, an online French teaching venture dedicated to providing high-quality instruction.
Commitment to Professional Development
Committed to providing the best for her learners, Estelle actively engages in professional development to stay current and deliver high-quality French language lessons and has undergone specialised training in dyslexia support and ADHD, equipping her to create inclusive learning environments.
Multilingual Proficiency and Ongoing Learning
In 2021, she attained a C1-level certification in Spanish, exemplifying her advanced language proficiency. Her dedication to continuous learning extends beyond Spanish, as she is currently immersed in the process of acquiring the Basque language. This personal commitment not only reflects her passion but also helps her to empathise with her students, enhancing her ability to guide them through the challenges of learning a new language.
A Passion for Literature, Writing, and Photography
Alongside her work as a teacher, Estelle has a deep love of literature, creative writing and photography. She runs Conversations Littéraires, a French-language book club for advanced learners, where participants explore contemporary French and francophone literature together. She also leads writing workshops designed to help learners develop confidence and creativity in French.
A photographer and poet, Estelle created Echoes, a book that combines photography and free-verse poetry to explore emotional connections to the forest and the restorative power of the natural world. Through images and words, the project invites readers to reflect on nature as both a sanctuary and a mirror, encouraging a deeper connection with the environment.
